How to Get There

Getting to Sokcho Beach is surprisingly simple. If you're traveling from Seoul, you can take an express bus from Seoul Express Bus Terminal. After arriving at Sokcho Express Bus Terminal, it's only about a five-minute walk to the beach.

You'll also notice a unique contrast: right alongside modern developments, you can still find old, weathered houses and traditional fish-drying racks known as Deokjang.
• Sokcho Eye: As you enter the beach, you'll immediately notice Sokcho Eye, the large observation wheel overlooking the East Sea. Since opening, it has become one of Sokcho's best-known landmarks. From the top, you can enjoy panoramic views of the coastline and the city on a clear day.
• Sunrise: In winter, the beach can be especially crowded on New Year's Day. People drive through the night to watch the first sunrise of the year, arriving early in the morning to make wishes for a happy new year. Throughout the year, the morning sun shining over the East Sea offers an unforgettable sight.

If you have extra time, don't rush back after visiting the main beach. Walk a little farther south toward Oeongchi Beach to explore the nearby Saemaeul area, which has become popular with younger visitors for its stylish cafés and creative atmosphere. On the northern side, Cheongho Beach offers a quieter escape, leading toward Cheongcho Lake and Abai Village. Don't just visit the sand—take time to explore the surrounding neighborhoods to discover Sokcho's everyday charm.
